What is AI visibility?

When a buyer asks ChatGPT “best web developer in Guwahati” or Perplexity “affordable wedding photographers in Shillong”, the AI answers with businesses it can find, read and trust. AI visibility is the practice of being one of those answers - and the mechanics are knowable:

• Crawlable: AI crawlers must be able to reach and read your pages (many sites accidentally block them).
• Unambiguous: your business facts - name, services, location, prices - must be consistent everywhere, so the AI never doubts who you are.
• Quotable: pages that answer in plain language get cited; pages that are images, PDFs or marketing fog get skipped.
• Confirmed: third-party surfaces - directories, reviews, lists - confirm the AI’s understanding. A business that exists only on its own site is a rumour.
