Problem × WooCommerce
WooCommerce product variations not showing
variable products that show nothing to buy
Why it happens
No valid combination. A variable product shows its price and options only when at least one variation exists AND matches the selected attributes. Variations must be generated from the attributes (“Create variations from all attributes”), and “Any” values on required fields quietly produce zero matching combinations.
Attributes not configured for variation. Product attributes have a “Used for variations” checkbox; a global attribute renamed or re-ordered after variation generation breaks the stored matches.
Stock and status per variation. Every variation needs a price and a stock status. One import filling price at product level instead of per-variation leaves every variation unpurchasable and the form blank.
Theme or plugin rendering. Heavy product-page builders and swatch plugins replace the native variation form; an outdated swatch plugin hides the dropdowns it was supposed to style.
Triage
Open the product, Variations tab: does the count say a real number? Edit one variation: does it have price AND stock? Re-select “Any” where you meant “any”, regenerate, save. Then front-end test in incognito. If the form exists but dropdowns do nothing, swap to a default theme momentarily to separate plugin problem from theme problem.
When to bring us in
Catalogue-wide variation breakage (imports gone wrong, thousands of products missing prices per variation) is data surgery, not clicking: we fix the import pipeline and the records, and verify a sample matrix. One scoped WooCommerce engagement, and your variable products sell again.
